Kottenborn

Kottenborn, official spelling to 6 December 1935: Cottenborn, is a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Adenau.

Geography

Kottenborn is located in the High Eifel four kilometers southwest of the city on a north- Adenau into the valley of Goldbach's sloping terrain of South. The residential area of the village covers altitudes from 470 m above sea level. Sea level up to 515 m above sea level. NN. History

The formation time of the first settlement in court Kottenborn, from which developed the place is unknown. Kottenborn belonged until 1794 to the office of mayor in Adenau Electoral Cologne office Nürburg. Origin of the name

The name " Kottenborn " means " Kotte Bauer" ( "cottage farmer" ) and was used as the name of the first inhabitants of the place. The name was probably later transferred from the farm " Cottenborn " on the present site. The first mention of the name " Cottenbuyr " in a document to Kapellenbau of 20 July 1403.

Parish council

The local council in Kottenborn consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Attractions

The branch church of St. Anthony in Kottenborn was built in 1403. The late Gothic choir was built in 1525, grown biaxial ship in the 17th century. An exchange and the renovation of the roof was done in 1826. During the country, county, diocese and community funded, extensive restoration were exposed culturally and historically valuable, late Gothic frescoes. A second bell was installed in 1984.
