La Roquebrussanne

La Roquebrussanne is a commune with 2499 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

La Roquebrussanne located 30 km north of Toulon and 10 km south-west of Brignoles is formed at the edge of a broad, agricultural plain by the river valleys of the late (later Issole ) and the Caramy. In the west the plain is bounded by mountain ridges that rise up to 700 m altitude. In the north, the mountains of La Loube tower over 832 m of the valley.

Personalities

Jean -Baptiste Reboul (1862 - 1926), French chef, was born in La Roquebrussanne. He is the author of the 1897 published cookbook The Provence cook (La Provençale cuisinière ). The cookbook includes 1,120 recipes and 365 easy and complete menus for every day of the year. Frédéric Mistral asked Reboul to recipes add the Provencal name of the courts, since the sixth edition, these are part of the work. The cookbook is in demand today and again reissued.
