Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole
Sainte -Anastasie -sur -Issole is a commune with 1902 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.
Geography
Sainte -Anastasie -sur -Issole located on the banks of the Issole middle of the river level, which is dominated in the south by 483 m high Porte Etroite and on the north by 553 m high Barre de Saint- Quinis.
The GR- distance footpath 9 performs the community.
History
The prehistoric settlement of the district is occupied by finds of flint and jewelry in a cave. A little below the village was a Ligurian stock.
Between the first and second empire was built on the foundations of a Roman military camp, the later uninhabited village of Naples.
In 1252 the village was first mentioned as Sancta Enestazia. At that time she was a fief of the Abbey of Saint -Victor, and later became part of the chapter of Pignans. The rule was Hubert de Garde, the Lord of Vins.
The current settlement was only after the Second Empire.

- Sainte -Anastasie -sur -Issole is a small quiet village on the slopes of a mountain projection with a maze of small streets.

- The parish church of Saint -Just, with its low, somewhat stocky bell tower was enlarged in the 19th century.

Personalities
- Born in the neighboring village Besse -sur -Issole Gaspard Bouis (1757-1781), also called Gaspard de Besse, was a highwayman who lived in the 18th century. According to legend, he plundered royal treasury officials and nobles in the Massif des Maures and distributed the booty among the poor. Gaspard Bouis said to have expanded the fortified cave in the cliffs of Saint- Quinis to a base.
