Luthern is a municipality in the constituency Willisau the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Geography

The municipality is located southwest of Willisau in Lutherntal. The municipal area is 12.2 km long and up to 5 km wide in north-south direction. She is one of the municipalities of the Canton of Lucerne large area and is located in the rugged hills and mountains north of the well. Population figures

History

Medieval and modern times

Lutrun is first mentioned in 1275 in a papal register of the settlements in the diocese of Constance. Shortly thereafter, in 1283 it sold the Barons of Affoltern to the Knights of giant mountain.
