Lynn Westmoreland

Lynn A. Westmoreland ( born April 2, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American politician. Since 2005 he represents the state of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lynn Westmoreland attended Therrell High School and then studied until 1971 at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He then worked in the real estate and construction. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. Between 1993 and 2004 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Georgia. There he directed from time to time, the Republican faction.

In the congressional elections of 2004 he was in the eighth constituency of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Mac Collins on January 3, 2005. After two re- elections, he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. But since 2007, he represents as the successor of James C. Marshall of the third district of Georgia. He is a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Committee on medium-sized companies, the Committee for Government Reform and several subcommittees. During the presidential campaign of 2008 he fell on by some derogatory remarks against the Democratic candidate and subsequent election winner Barack Obama.

After Lynn Westmoreland was confirmed in the congressional elections of 2010, with 69 % of the vote, he can take another two-year term in Congress on January 3, 2011. With his wife Joan, he has three grown children. Private family lives in Sharpsburg.
