Mabuiag Island

Mabuiag is an island of Bellevue Islands, belonging to a group of islands in the archipelago of Australia Torres Strait Islands. Administratively, it belongs to the Western Islands, an island region in the municipality of Torres Shire of Queensland.

The approximately 7.4 km ² island is located 100 km before the northern Australian Cape York and some 80 kilometers southwest of the southern coast of Papua New Guinea. The highest point of the island lies 152 meters above sea level. The north coast directly in front are the uninhabited islands Aipus and Widul, off the west coast are Mipe and Pulu and close to the east coast to find Subur, Talab and Warakuikul Talab.

The only place Mabuiag is located on the east coast. The rest of the island is uninhabited. It is the only inhabited island in the Bellevue Islands. Mabuiag had 210 inhabitants to the 2001 census, and 251 inhabitants to the 2006 census.
