The Prince of Wales Island, English and called Prince of Wales Iceland in the local language, the Kaurareg, Muralug, is part of the Torres Strait Islands in the Strait between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The 19.5 km × 18.6 km measured island has an area of ​​204.6 km ². This makes it the largest of the Torres Strait Islands, is inhabited by several families, but has none of the usual civilizing facilities such as electricity, sewerage and the like. The population was only 20 in 2001.

Administratively, the island belongs to the Inner Islands, an island region in the municipality of Torres Shire of Queensland, although a good portion of the land area was the original owners, the tribal people of the Kaurareg, returned to self-administration as a result of the Mabo judgment.
