Martin Havlát

Martin Havlát ( IPA: [ marcɪn ɦavla ː t]; born April 19, 1981 in Mladá Boleslav, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who plays for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League for the position of right winger since July 2011.

Career

Martin began his career in 1996 Havlát in the Czech -U18 League, where he played for Ytong Brno. In the 1997/98 season he played his first five games for the U20 team from Brno and convinced there since he scored twelve points. In 1998 he joined HC Třinec for which it was used both in the U20 league, but also the professionals in the Extraliga. The scouts of the National Hockey League had become aware of him and he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 by the Ottawa Senators in the first round at position 26. He played one more year in Třinec before he went to North America in the summer of 2000.

When the Ottawa Senators and he was able to establish the same and was nominated at the end of the season for the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie. In 2002 he took part with the Czech national team at the Olympic Winter Games. From year to year he was able to increase his points total. In the 2003 /04 season he came in 68 games on 68 points. In the season Havlát was banned for four games. For two games, after he had with his bat hit the opponent Mark Recchi in the face and for two more games than he had kicked an opponent.

The NHL season 2004/ 05 dropped out because of the lockout and went Havlát how many players to Europe to play hockey. He spent the season in his home at HC Orli Znojemští and HC Sparta Prague, and in Russia with Dynamo Moscow.

The NHL took the season 2005 /06 the game mode back on and also Havlát returned to North America. But after a few games he had to go back to settle a lock because he had kicked an opponent. For five games, he was not allowed to intervene in the game. In his first game after his suspension he scored four goals in a 10:4 against the Buffalo Sabres. Overall, he won in the eleven games after his suspension eleven points, but then he pulled a serious shoulder injury, which is why he had to pause for over four months. Shortly before the end of the regular season in April 2006, he returned. In the playoffs, then he could show it, what he can and scored 13 times in ten games.

After the season Havláts contract ran out and it was announced that he would sign for one year only at the senator. On the one hand the management of the Senators the contract period was too short, on the other hand you would have as soon as possible find a replacement for him. The senator then went with the Chicago Blackhawks and the San Jose Sharks a one transfer business. The Sharks should dispose to Ottawa Tom Price Sing and Josh Hennessy, for Ottawa and Bryan Smolinski Havlát would transfer to Chicago and send Chicago Mark Bell to San Jose.

On 5 October 2006 Havlat made ​​his debut with the Blackhawks and was able to inspire with two goals and two assists. After two weeks and seven matches played, he led the league with 13 points, but then he injured his ankle and fell out a long time. On December 9, he then gave his comeback and was able to meet twice, but lost his team again. The Blackhawks missed the end of the season quite clearly the playoffs and Havlát was, although he was able to complete only 56 games, the best scorer of the team with 57 points.

The 2007/08 season was marked by injuries. Immediately after the first season game was Havlát for almost two months because of a shoulder injury and only returned late November back on the ice, but not four weeks later he had an injury to the groin pause again for six games. Havlát played until the end of February 2008 in 35 games and showed with ten goals and 17 assists, good performance. However, he had to quit due to a shoulder surgery, the season prematurely.

In the 2008 /09 season he was in 81 games for the Blackhawks in action, shot 29 goals and collected 77 points. In the playoffs, he drew attention to himself with 15 points in 16 games, but lost in the Conference Finals in five games against the Detroit Red Wings. At season's end, he was with the Chicago Blackhawks no agreement on a contract extension and Havlát signed on 1 July 2009 a contract for six years with the Minnesota Wild, who will earn him $ 30 million. In the 2009/10 season he came up with 73 inserts for the game and scored 54 points.

In July 2011, it replaced the management of the game against Dany Heatley of the San Jose Sharks.

Internationally

In 2000 he became world champion with both the U20 juniors and men.

Havlát participated with the Czech national ice hockey team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
