Meistriliiga

The Meistriliiga is the highest division in Estonian football. The league was founded in 1992.

Mode

In the Meistriliiga currently playing ten teams. In the course of a season, each team plays four games against each other team in two home and two away games. At the end of the season the last placed descends into the Esiliiga. The Penultimate denies two relegation matches against the runner-up of Esiliiga.

The season runs as in the Scandinavian countries with the calendar year from March to November. Between 1992 and 1998 the championship was however discharged in the " autumn - spring rhythm ".
