Meteor Music Awards

The Meteor Ireland Music Awards ( The Meteors short ) are a music prize, which is awarded to artists for their successes in Ireland and internationally. They have been awarded annually from 2001 to 2010 and replaced the IRMA Ireland Music Awards.

In January 2011, the organizers announced that the ceremony will not take place this year after meteor had finished his sponsorship.

History

The Meteor Ireland Music Awards are similar to the Juno Awards in Canada, the U.S. Grammy Awards, the UK BRIT Awards and the Echo in Germany. They are after their sponsor, Meteor Mobile Communications Ltd.. Named.

The annual award ceremony consisted of a series of live performances, as well as the actual award of the prize. It took from 2001 to 2007 in the Point Theatre and from 2008 to 2010 in the RDS Simmonscourt Concert Hall in Dublin instead.

The presenters were both Irish, as international musicians, athletes, personalities from the film and television, as well as models such as Joe Elliott, Denis Hickie, Colin Farrell, Alex Zane and Rosanna Davison. A number of different personalities over the years hosted the celebration, including Ed Byrne, Patrick Kielty, Amanda Byram, the puppets Podge and Rodge together with Deirdre O'Kane and Dara Ó Briain, which exercised this role last three years.
