Michelle Lujan Grisham

Michelle Lujan Grisham ( born October 24, 1959 Los Alamos County, New Mexico) is an American politician. Since 2013, it represents the state of New Mexico in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Michelle Lujan, so her maiden name, is the niece of the former Minister of the Interior Manuel Lujan U.S., who was also a congressman for New Mexico. Her cousin Ben R. Luján represent the third congressional district of New Mexico. She graduated from St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe. After a subsequent law studies at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and its 1987 was admitted as a lawyer, she began to work in this profession. She became a member of the Bar of their state. From 1991 to 2002 she was a member of the Aging Commission of New Mexico. Between 2002 and 2004 she worked for the office, which is associated with aging in professional life and long-time public officials dealt ( Secretary of Aging and Long-Term Services). From 2004 to 2007 she was Minister of Health of New Mexico. Politically, she joined the Democratic Party. In 2008 she sought unsuccessfully to their party's nomination for the congressional elections of this year. From 2010 to 2012 she was a member of the District Council of Bernalillo County.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Michelle Lujan Grisham was the first electoral district of New Mexico in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they on 3 January 2013, the successor of Martin Heinrich took, which was elected to the U.S. Senate. In this election, they beat their Republican counter candidate Janice Arnold- Jones with 59:41 percent of the vote.

Michelle Lujan Grisham was married to the late 2004 Gregory Grisham, with whom she has two daughters.
