Moncalieri

Moncalieri ( Piedmontese Moncale, Latin Mons Mons or Calerius Calerii ) is a town with 55 720 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Turin (TO ), Region Piedmont. It is the second largest city of the province and is located in the city of Turin.

The neighboring municipalities are Turin, Pecetto Torinese, Nichelino, Cambiano, Trofarello, Vinovo, La Loggia, Villastellone and Carignano.

The municipality covers an area of 47 km ². In Moncalieri the renowned coachbuilding company Maggiora had their headquarters

Twinning

Moncalieri has since 1989 been twinned with the Greek city Argiroupoli and since 1990 with the German town of Baden -Baden.

Bernhard second from Baden

, Who died on July 15 in 1458 Moncaliere of the plague Margrave Bernhard II of Baden was buried in St. Mary's church in the city. The tomb was and is a destination for pilgrimages. Bernhard was beatified in 1769. 2011 canonization was opened by the Archbishop of Freiburg Robert Zollitsch.
