Nam Phong District
Amphoe Nam Phong ( Thai อำเภอ น้ำพอง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northwestern province of Khon Kaen. Khon Kaen is located in the western part of the northeast region of Thailand, Isan.
Geography
Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Non Sa -at Udon Thani province and the Amphoe Kranuan, Sam Sung, Mueang Khon Kaen, Ubol Ratana and Khao Suan Kwang Province Khon Kaen
The place Nam Phong is located about 30 kilometers north of the district capital of Khon Kaen on the National Road 2 ( Friendship Highway Saraburi - Nong Khai ). The administration, however, is a little further east housed.
History
The district was created on February 10, 1908 under the name Tha Wa ( ท่า หว้า ). In 1909 it was renamed in Mam Phong.
Economy
Of economic importance is a sugar factory and a snap distillery, is produced in the Lao Kao. Otherwise, this district is characterized by agriculture, mainly the cultivation of rice and sugarcane, as well as stock-farming products.
Traffic
Traffic Technically Nam Phong is out by the highway directly connected by the railway line Bangkok - Nong Khai.
Others
On the highway Nam Phong Kranuan is the " Royal Thai Air Base Nam Phong ", which served during the Vietnam War as an Air Base of the U.S. Air Force in the years 1972-73 and was called at the time "Rose Garden".
Management
The circle is divided into 12 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 124 villages ( Muban ).
There are six small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:
- Nam Phong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล น้ำพอง ) consists of parts of the tambon Nam Phong,
- Wang Chai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วัง ชัย ) also consists of parts of the tambon Wang Chai and Nong Kung,
- Lam Nam Phong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลำ น้ำพอง ) also consists of parts of the tambon Nam Phong,
- Kut Nam Sai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กุด น้ำ ใส ) consists of the whole tambon Kut Nam Sai,
- Muang Wan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ม่วง หวาน ) consists of parts of the tambon Muang Wan,
- Sa -at ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สะอาด ) consists of the whole tambon Sa -at.
In addition, there are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
