Otakar Janecký

Otakar Janecký ( born December 26, 1960 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech professional ice hockey player who played in the SM- liiga for Jokerit Lappeenranta, among other things, Jokerit Helsinki and Espoo Blues in its active from 1978 to 2004. His son Otakar Janecký junior was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Otakar Janecký began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Tesla Pardubice. For Tesla's first team, he was from 1979 to 1990 in the first league, the highest Czechoslovak league, active. With Tesla he won the Czechoslovak league titles in seasons 1986/87 and 1988/89. The second title win in 1989, he was with 41 assists best assist provider in the league. For the season 1990/91 the Centre went to other European countries, where he received a contract with Jokerit Lappeenranta in the Finnish SM- liiga. There he was able to convince at first and reached 60 points in 44 games, including 21 goals, which represented the point best game of his career for him. He was involved in more than one of three goals of his team. However Jokerit itself was one of the weaker teams in the league and he had to accept relegation to the second-class I divisionna with his team as Table.

In the summer of 1991 Janecký moved within the SM- liiga therefore the Finnish giants Jokerit Helsinki. With the capital club, he was 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1997 four times Finnish champion in six years. In addition, he failed with his team in the 1994/95 season in the playoff finals to TPS Turku. At the European level, he finished with Jokerit in 1992/93 to third place in the European Cup. In the years 1995 and 1996, he could win in a row with the Finns twice this competition. Even for the Czechs itself was very successful at the time Jokerit. At first championship with Jokerit in the 1991/92 season he was with eleven assists best assist provider in the playoffs, he also was elected to the All-Star team in the league. To win the title in the season 1996/97 he wore in the playoffs with two goals and 13 assists in nine games in which he received the Jari Kurri trophy as - valuable player of the playoffs. In November 1995 and December 1998 he was player of the month in each of the SM - liiga.

The 1999/2000 season spent Janecký at the Espoo Blues. Subsequently, the now 39 -year-old two -time Olympian returned to his Czech homeland and signed a contract with his former club from Pardubice, who had changed his name in the meantime HC Pardubice. In the first three seasons after his return, he was team captain at the HC Pardubice and reached with his team in the 2002/03 season, the playoff finals. In this he was defeated by the Pardubice HC Slavia Prague. In the 2003 /04 season of Sagittarius links by Michal Sykora was replaced as captain. During the season he retired to differences with the coach from oleistungssport and devoted himself to his work as a trainer for the juniors of the club.

Internationally

For Czechoslovakia Janecký participated in the World Championships in 1989 and 1992 respectively, and the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville in part. At the 1989 World Championships he won a bronze medal with his team as well as at the Olympic Winter Games 1992. Moreover, he was in the squad of the Czech national team at the World Championships in 1993 and 1994, and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. His greatest success with the Czech national team was winning the bronze medal at the 1993 World Cup.

Overall, he played for both teams together in 110 official matches 21 goals and gave over 20 templates ( CSSR - 79 games, 17 goals, Czech Republic - 31 games, 4 goals).
