Otín (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Otín ( German Wottin ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers west of Velké Meziříčí and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Otín is located on the right side above the valley of the brook Žďárka in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. To the east lies the valley of the Balinka. Southwest raises the Pavlínovská horka (614 m) and west of the Chlumek (628 m).

Neighboring towns are Pustina in the north, Nová Zhoř and Stránecká Zhoř in the northeast, Frankův Zhořec in the east, and Šeborov Uhřínov the southwest, Pohořílky in the south, Pavlinov the southwest, Geršov in the west and Měřín in the northwest.

History

The first mention of votin place in the year 1379th At that time belonged to a part of the village to rule Meziříčí. Further shares possessed the local Freihofstraße and the Good Stránecká Zhoř. 1398 sold Jan von BENdin the Freihofstraße. Other owners included the family Cermak, who later called himself by votin.
