Papal election, 1216

The papal election of 1216 was the first conclave in the strict sense, because its participants were included. It started even on the anniversary of Pope Innocent III. , July 16, 1216 and ended on July 18, 1216 with the election of Pope Honorius III.

Course

Probably in order to prevent any influence from the outside, the choice still began on the anniversary of the Pope in the Palazzo delle Canoniche to Perugia.
