Parkland is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 23,962 inhabitants ( 2010). The metropolitan area has a size of 27.9 km ².

Geography

Parkland is located about 20 km north- west of Fort Lauderdale and 55 kilometers north of Miami. In the south the city borders on Coral Springs, Coconut Creek to the east, to the north by the Palm Beach County and on the west by the Everglades.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 23,962 inhabitants distributed to 8,292 households. The population density was 907.7 inh. / Km ². 84.0 % of the population were white, 6.5% African American, 0.1% Native American and 5.9 % Asian Americans. '1, 5% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.9% in different ethnic groups. 13.0 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

Parkland is on U.S. Highway 441 and the Florida State Roads 7 and 869 ( Sawgrass Expressway toll road) affected. The nearest airports are the Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport ( 18 km), Miami International Airport ( 45 km) and the Palm Beach International Airport ( 50 km).

The inhabitants are Russian (7.1% ), Italian ( 16.6% ), Irish (12.7%), German (13.1%) and British (6.6%) descent. From the Native Americans are descended from about 9.4 % of the population.
