Piraeus (regional unit)

The Regional District Piraeus (Greek Periferiaki Enotita Piraeus Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Πειραιώς ) is one of eight regional districts of the Greek region of Attica. It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from the mainland area on the peninsula of Attica Prefecture former district Piraeus. Proportional to its 448 997 inhabitants, the area sends 12 MPs in the Attic Regional Council, but has no more political significance than local authority. It is divided into five municipalities Keratsini - Drapetsona, Korydallos, Nikea - Agios Ioannis Rendis, Perama and Piraeus.
