Pollein

Pollein is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley.

Pollein has 1568 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) and is 551 m above sea level. M. on the right side of the Dora Baltea near Aosta. The town is the starting point for walks in the area of Monte Emilius.

The foundation of the town dates back to Roman times. In the Middle Ages Pollein belonged to the dominion of the Quart. The parish church of the village dates from the 12th century.

Neighboring municipalities are Aosta, Brissogne Charvensod, Quart and Saint -Christophe.

During the Fascist period it received the Italianate name Poglieno.
