Quart, Aosta Valley

Quart is a town in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley.

The municipality has 3921 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2012) and lies at an altitude of 535 m on the left side of the Dora Baltea. At the scattered community include several villages which are spread over the higher elevations. The territory of the municipality extends to 3,205 m altitude.

In the Middle Ages it was the seat of the dominion of the Quart. The parish church was first mentioned in the 12th century. From the 12th century comes also the castle.

The community belongs to the community association Comunità Montana Mont Emilius, and is its chief town. The neighboring municipalities are Brissogne, Nus, Oyace Pollein, Saint -Christophe, Saint -Marcel and Valpelline. Quart consists of the districts Argnod, Éclou, L' Amérique, Les Cleyves, Trois- Villes, La Montagne, Villair de Quart, Villefranche -sur- Nus, Villeneuve, Cham plan Larey, Avisod, Bagnére, Chantignan, Chetoz, La Combe, Cort, Cretallaz, Créton, Effraz, Jeanceyaz, Morgonaz, Olleyes, Porsan, Seran, stairs lead, Lillaz Vignil, Povil and Vollein.
