Arnad

Arnad is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley with 1298 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

The inhabitants are called arnadins. In the Frankoprovenzialischen language the men and the women Arnayot Arnayota hot. Arnad is a member of the Association of Municipalities Comunità Montana Evançon.

Geography

Arnad is on an average height of 361 m slm and has a size of 28 km ².

Arnad consists of the districts: Anvyey, Arnad -Le -Vieux, Bonavesse, Champagnolaz, Château, Chez Fornelle, Clapey, Clos de Barme, Costa, Echallod, Echallogne, Extraz, Les Vachères, Machaby Pied- de -Ville, Prouve, Revie, Rollety, Sisan, Torretta and Ville. The neighboring municipalities are Bard, Challand -Saint -Victor, Donnas, HÃ'ne, Issime, Issogne, Perloz, Pontboset Verrès.

History

During the Fascist period, the village was the Italianate name Arnaz.

Specialty

The municipality is the Valle d' Aosta Lard d' Arnad, a bacon with denomination of origin ( Denominazione d' Origine Protetta ) its name. The viticulture plays a modest role. The DOC wine Arnad - Montjovet contains at least 70 % from the Nebbiolo grape. In addition, the varieties Moscato, Dolcetto, Neyret, Vien de Nus and Pinot Noir find the entrance to the developed as a blending wine. In Arnad the rare varieties Ner d' Ala and Roussin are grown.
