Positano

Positano is a village on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno in Campania, Italy, with 3904 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). He belonged to the mountain community Comunità Montana penisola Amalfi. The place is dominated by tourism.

Geography

Positano neighboring municipalities are Agerola, PIMONTE, Praiano and Vico Equense. Positano is situated in a bay between Punta Germano and Capo Sottile.

To the territory of the municipality includes the small Li Galli islands and the two mountain villages Montepertuso and Nocelle.

Positano is crossed by steep streets and many stairs. The writer John Steinbeck described Positano as " the single vertical location in the world ."
