Quirino

Quirino is a province in the region of Cagayan Valley on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.

Location

Southeast of Quirino lies the province of Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya to the west and to the north, Isabela. The capital is Cabarroguis. The topography of the province is dominated in the north of the Sierra Madre and in the southern part of the Caraballo Mountains.

History

The province was named after Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines. It was once a part of Nueva Vizcaya, until it was separated on 18 June 1966. In the field the languages ​​Ilokano and Tagalog are spoken. In the 2323.47 km ² province 176 786 people ( census May 1, 2010 ).
