Račice (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Račice ( German Ratschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers southeast of Nove Mesto na Moravě and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Račice is on the left side of the valley of the brook Račický creek on a plateau at the southern foot of the Křiby (spin Mountain, 571 m) in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. To the west lies the pond Strženík.

Neighboring towns are Křídla, Ježkov, Branišovský Mlýn and Branišov in the north, Ráčkův Mlýn, Albrechtice and Blažejovice in the northeast, Strchův Mlýn, Míčův Mlýn, Horni Rožínka and Zvole in the east, Olešínky the southeast, Mirošov in the south, Bobrová and Podolí in the southwest and Radešínská Svratka Lánský Dvůr and Dlouhe in the northwest.

History

The scale of a village square Rundling was probably founded in the wake of the first colonization of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. The first mention of Racsize was in 1462 Saarer land register.

After the abolition of patrimonial Račice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Nove Mesto. 1947, the community was associated with the Okres Zdar nad Sázavou in the wake of the dissolution of Okres Nové Město na Moravě.
