Rattaphum District

Amphoe Rattaphum ( Thai: อำเภอ รัตภูมิ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Songkhla. The Songkhla province lies to the east of the southern region of Thailand on the coast to the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts and territories ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Khuan Niang which, Bang Klam and Hat Yai in the province of Songkhla, Amphoe Khuan Kalong in the province of Satun and Amphoe Pa Bon in Phatthalung Province.

History

The original name of the district was Kamphaeng Phet after the central tambon. In 1939 it was renamed in Rattaphum.

Management

Amphoe Rattaphum is divided into five subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 59 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Kamphaeng Phet ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กำแพงเพชร ) consists of parts of the Tambon Kamphaeng Phet,
  • Na Si Thong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา สี ทอง ) consists of parts of the tambon Khao Phra.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
