Ricaldone

Ricaldone ( Ricaldòn Piedmontese ) is a municipality with 683 (as of 31 December 2012) a population of Alessandria, Piedmont in the Italian province.

Geography

The village is located about 27 km from Alessandria center at an altitude of 285 m above sea level. The area of ​​the municipality covers 10.61 km ². The patron saints of the town are the saints Simone and Giuda. Neighboring municipalities are Acqui Terme, Alice Bel Colle, Cassine, Maranzana Mombaruzzo, Quaranti and Strevi.

History

Ricaldones roots in the Middle Ages. The town's name comes from the combination of the words Runcus and Aldonis ( the genitive form of Aldo ). Runcus stands to cultivate a thorny area for work and Aldo is a Longobard name that appeared in the 7th century for the first time in Italy. The place is therefore a settlement of the Lombards, who invaded around the year 642 in this area.

In Ricaldone vines for the Dolcetto d' Acqui, a red wine are grown with DOC status. The berries of the grape varieties Pinot Noir and / or Chardonnay may be processed for sparkling wine Alta Langa.
