Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Goiânia

The Archdiocese of Goiânia (Latin: Archidioecesis Goianiensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Goiânia in the state of Goiás.

History

The Archdiocese of Goiânia was born on March 26, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Sanctissima Christ Voluntas of cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Goiás. On January 16, 1960, the Archdiocese of Goiânia were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Brasília. A further transfer of territory took place on November 25, 1961 establishing the Territorialprälatur São Luís de Montes Belus. The Archdiocese of Goiânia was on October 11, 1966 from parts of its territory to the founding of the dioceses Anápolis, Ipameri and Itumbiara.
