Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Pelotas

The Archdiocese of Pelotas (Latin: Archidioecesis Pelotensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Pelotas in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

History

The Diocese of Pelotas was established on August 10, 1910 by Pope Pius X with the Apostolic Constitution Praedecessorum Nostrorum out of territory of the Archdiocese of Porto Alegre and this is a suffragan. On June 25, 1960, the Diocese of Pelotas were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Bagé. Another area assignment was on 27 May 1971 on the establishment of the Diocese of the Rio Grande.

On 13 April 2011 it was by Pope Benedict XVI. raised to an archbishopric seat with a metropolitan.
