Russia women's national football team

The Russian national football team of women representing Russia in international women's football. The national team is subordinated to the Russian football federation RFS.

The Russian team is the next team in the women 's national soccer team of the USSR; the first counted by FIFA for Russia game was still disputed by the Soviet team.

In 1997, Russia was the first time for a European Football Championship qualifying, in the qualification round, the Russians were group winners ahead of France. In the final round, however, Russia dropped out after defeats against France, Sweden and Spain in the first round.

Two years later, the Russians won the play-off games against Finland and qualified for the first time for a world championship. In the USA, first started by a narrow 1-2 defeat against the defending champions from Norway, in the two remaining group matches but the team was able to convince and moved into the quarter-finals. Against China, however, Russia lost 0-2 and missed by the last-minute hit Sweden in the 1-3 defeat against Norway just barely qualifying for the Olympics 2000.

At the European Championships 2001, the Russian ladies left with only a single point in the first round. In the 2003 World Cup is once again reached the quarter-finals, where they lost but with 1:7 against the eventual champions Germany.

When qualifying for Euro 2005, Russia failed in the play- off matches to Finland, for the 2007 World Cup could be - after two defeats against Germany - do not qualify.

For the European Championship 2009, Russia was in the third qualifying round after two games ( 3-2 in Scotland and 1:2 at home) narrowly prevail against Scotland and qualify for the European Championship.

Also for the 2011 World Cup could the team - after a 0-3 home defeat against Switzerland - do not qualify.

The national team took part so far only twice at Algarve Cup and came here in 1996 to fifth place. 2014 Russia played in the group of weaker teams and reached with one win and two losses as group runners -place play- 9, which was won 1-0 against Norway. Also the fifth place went to the team in 2008 at the first Cyprus Cup, the 2009 and 2011 followed the eighth tenth place. 2013, the team won a first time transmitted in Istria tournament, which was attended by five other Eastern and Southeastern European teams.

The German team has 14 encounters frequent opponent of the Russian teams. Previously it was enough merely to two draws in twelve defeats, including the heaviest defeat ( 0:7 ) is one of the Russian team. In qualifying for the 2015 World Championships, Russia is hit again on Germany.
