Tantonville

Tantonville is a commune with 658 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of the canton of Nancy and Haroué.

Geography

The community Tantonville in Saintois is located about 20 kilometers south of Nancy, between the cantonal capitals Vézelise and Haroué.

The bottom relief of 8.09 km ² of the municipal territory west of the Madontales falls from the southwest to the northeast gradually. Eight kilometers south of Tantonville rises in the landscape Saintois the striking Colline de Sion with the tower signal de Vaudémont to 541 meters above the sea. Tantonville located in an agriculturally intensively used area, only in the south, the municipality has a share of 80 ha in a forest area.

History

Parts of the church in Tantonville date from the 14th century. Underwent significant development, the farming village in 1839, when the brothers Tourtel here a brewery founded ( brasserie Tourtel ), which still exists today. In the Toutel brewery they worked in the 19th century, among other things with spontaneous fermentation and introduced many innovations. 1873-1874 researcher also Louis Pasteur, after a street was named in Tantonville.
