Trinidad and Tobago national football team

The national football team of Trinidad and Tobago is the national team of the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Team boss since June 18, 2013 Stephen Hart. The nickname Soca Warriors ( Soca Warriors ) refers to the popular music Soca.

History

So far, the national team of the island nation could only qualify once for a world championship, namely for the 2006 tournament in Germany.

The participations in the CONCACAF Gold Cup have had little success. When CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005, the team failed with two points in the first round. Against Honduras (1-1) and Panama (2-2 ) played the team of the island nation in a draw. The biggest success was the third place in the Gold Cup 2000. Those days there was no 3rd place match, Trinidad and Tobago and Peru shared as third.

Football World Cup 2006

The greatest success of the national team had qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. In the CONCACAF qualifying Trinidad and Tobago reached a narrow 2-1 victory over the already qualified favorites from Mexico in the last game. The team came into this crucial game after a missed penalty and a 0-1 back. In the following play-offs, the team met with the Asian representatives of Bahrain, which had prevailed due to the higher number of away goals, with two draws against Uzbekistan. The first leg was the return match held in Bahrain on November 12, 2005 in Trinidad and Tobago, on 16 November.
