United States national bandy team

The Bandynationalmannschaft of the United States of Lords presents the United States at international matches in Bandy.

History

The American Bandy Association was founded in 1981 and inducted into the International Bandy Federation. On 5 November 1983, the selection played its first international match against Norway. The discharged in Oslo game lost to the United States with 1:6. In 1985, in Norway to the World Cup debut of Americans. But until the first victory in a World Cup, it took until 1991, when with Canada, Hungary and the Netherlands the same all three freshmen were defeated. The team was ranked in the following years at the World Championships on the sixth or seventh place, which the team played along again and again in the A group. 2009 lost the Americans although the relegation play-off for promotion to the A- group against Belarus because Belarus in 2010 but gave up a FIFA World Cup, the United States played again until 2012 in the House of Lords. 2012 there was no relegation game more and the team rose from sixth and last of the A-WC. 2014, the United States was top notch again due to a reform of the competition format. In addition, managed by a 5:5 against Norway in the group stage for the first time a point win against one of the classic Bandynationen (Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden). In the final game for 5th place, the Americans lost but with 3:6 against Norway.
