Bandy World Championship 1997
The 20th Bandy World Championship was held in Sweden from February 1 to February 9, 1997. The hosts won the tournament ahead of Russia and Finland.
The tournament was the King of Sweden Carl XVI. Gustaf opened. A total of 25 games came to the 53 975 spectators, of which more than 10 000 the final Sweden against Russia in Västerås.

Game Mode
The nine teams were classified according to their strength in an A (5 teams) and a B- group (4 teams). The first two of the A group qualified automatically for the semi-finals. The Third and Fourth in Group A had a game against the First and deregister the Second of the B group, whose winner would also qualify for the semifinals.
Venues
It was played at several places in Sweden. In addition to Västerås, the venue for the final and the game for 3rd place, was played in Stockholm, Köpings, Fagersta, Katrine Holm, Vänersborg, Otterbäcken, Trollhättan, Grängesberg, Slottsbron, Skövde and Sandviken.
