Bandy World Championship 1957

The first Bandy World Championship was held from February 28 to March 3, 1957 in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. This was the venue for the 1952 Summer Olympic Games in Finland.

It took three teams, namely Sweden, the Soviet Union and hosts Finland participated in the tournament. Norway, originally wanted to participate in the World Championships, pulled back his participation because of unrest in Hungary in 1956 and the participation of the Soviet Union. The winner was played in the group system. Overall, there were three games.

Venue

Venue was the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, which was built for the Olympic Summer Games 1940. Since 1940, the games could not be played, it was only in 1952 hosted the Summer Olympic Games. The stadium in Töölö district offers 40,000 spectators and was designed by the architects Yrjö Lindegren and Toivo Jäntti.
