Norway national bandy team

The Norwegian Bandynationalmannschaft the Lords presents Norway in international matches in Bandy. Norway won at the World Championships so far one silver and one gold medal. Since 2001, the team always finished fifth at the World Championships.

Coach of the national team is Christer Lystad. He is also with 132 inserts also record player selection.

History

The first international match played Norway on 6 February 1927 at the Oslo Frogner district against the selection of Sweden. Norway lost the game 1:3. The first game against Finland on 13 February 1940 in Oslo Norway lost 1-2.

The first victory celebrated Norway during the 1952 Winter Olympics, where as a demonstration sport Bandy part of the program. Norway beat Sweden's selection 2-1. The game against Finland the day before had lost 2:3 with the Norwegians.

In an international tournament in Moscow in February 1954 Norway played for the first time against the Soviet Union and lost with 0:8.

Norway was as much as the Soviet Union, Sweden and Finland to the registered teams for the World Championships 1957 in Helsinki. Due to political reasons ( suppression of the uprising in Hungary by the Soviet Union in 1956 ) but remained Norway the tournament away. The first part took place four years later in 1961 at the World Championships, which took place in their own country. Norway lost the first World Cup match against Sweden 1-2. After two defeats against the Soviet Union ( 1:9 ) and Finland (3:4) the team finished fourth and last place. In the following World Cup 1963 in Sweden succeeded by a 2-2 draw with Finland winning the first point at a World Cup. However, Norway could not even 1963 on the fourth square. 1965 succeeded in Norway by winning the silver medal of the biggest success in Bandy World Championships. The team parted 2:2 of Sweden, then lost to the Soviet Union with 0:4, but gained the final game against Finland 1-0. By 1993, this should be the only medal for the Norwegians.

After a fourth place finish in 1967 and a second boycott in 1969, this time due to the crushing of the Prague Spring by the Soviet Army, the Norwegians occupied until 1993, always in fourth place. 1993 won the Norwegians at the home World Cup in Hamar the bronze medal. In the group stage the team had initially lost all three games. After a qualifying match against the United States, that the Norwegians won 7-0 and a 3-6 semi-final defeat against Sweden, it retaliated in the small final with a 5-3 against Finland for the 1:4 defeat in the group stage.

From 1995 Kazakhstan took part in the Bandy World Championships. The Kazakhs defeated already in its World Cup debut in the Norwegian 4-2 Norway and displaced so to fifth place in the final standings. 1997 in Sweden, the two teams split in the first round with 7:7. In the quarterfinals, the Kazakhs won the second game 5-2. 1999 finally succeeded to the Norwegians, the date last time, to occupy the fourth place in the group stage after a 6-2 Kazakhstan. Since 2001, Norway has always been fifth.
