Vehicle registration plates of Georgia (country)
Georgian license plates are usually made up of three letters of the Latin alphabet, a dash and three digits (eg ABC -123 ). In the lower left corner of the distinguishing sign of GE appears as country code for Georgia. Older characters indicate the letters GEO. It is often featured on the national flag of Georgia license plates.
Originally coded the first letter of the registration district. This system is currently, however, no longer applied and the mark will be awarded at random or paid in any desired combinations, provided free. Some companies have all possible combinations with their company names corresponding three-letter abbreviations acquired ( for example, the largest private bank in the country, TBC Bank, all 999 mark with TBC or the television Mse TV according to the English transliteration all the hallmarks with MIE ). Ambulances often carry flag with the letters PSP, the symbol of a failure occurring as a sponsor pharmaceutical company, fire and other emergency vehicles license plate with SOS.

Trailers and construction equipment have signs on the pattern AB -123, two wheelers show after two letters four digits (Scheme AB- 1234). Temporary license plate beginning with the letters TG or TR followed by four digits. Transit signs show four digits followed by a vertical red bar with the month and year. Finally, two letters appear.
Diplomatic plates have a red background and white font. You start with a three-digit serial number. This is followed by the letter D or CMD and the encoding of the country of origin by three digits. The order of the countries is guided by the date of opening of an Embassy, so 001 stands for Germany, 002 for the U.S. and 003 for Turkey. Technical and administrative staff receives green signs that have the letters AS. Both types of signs exist in an older, darker and the current, lighter version with modified font.
The Georgian armed forces use black number plates with white letters. The marks consist of two letters followed by three digits. On the left side there is a green bar with the letters GA.
The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM ), which also operates in Georgia since 2008, has its own signs. They show the letters EUMM in white on a light blue background, followed by a sequential number.
Before independence, the Georgian SSR used as part of the Soviet Union Soviet flag.
Future
For fall 2014, the introduction of a new license plate system is planned. The new signs will be provided with a blue bar on the left edge and thus adapted to the Euro plate. Preserved representation of flag and country code. Regarding the combinations, the indicator based on French and Italian model to the model AB -123 CD. On the right side a hologram sticker to protect against counterfeiting.
Abkhazia and South Ossetia
The breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia give from their own number plates, which are forbidden in the Georgian heartland. In return, the authorities of these areas do not recognize the Georgian flag.
Abkhazian number plates are based on the Russian flag. They show a small letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, three digits and two more reduced Cyrillic letters. However, it will be used only those twelve letters which occur ( А, Б, В, Е, К, М, Н, О, Р, С, Т, У, Х ) in a similar form in the Latin alphabet. At the right edge of the flag of Abkhazia and the letters ABH can be seen.
Older license plate from South Ossetia are similar to the signs of the former Soviet Union. They consist of four digits followed by the Cyrillic letters ЮОР ( Юго - Осетинская Республика, Russian for South Ossetian Republic) and show no more symbolism. Modern mark awarded according to the Russian model, where again only those Cyrillic letters are used, to which there is a Latin counterpart - Meanwhile - as in Abkhazia. They show left the flag of South Ossetia and the letters RSO for Republic of South Ossetia. Here are two letters, three numerals and one letter again. As in the Russian Federation have vehicles of government distinguishing marks. Point at the left edge the flag without letters.
