Wischhafen

Wischhafen ( Low German wiping Hoben ) is a municipality in the Lower Saxon Nordkehdingen in the district of Stade, with around 3,000 inhabitants. The place is located in Kehdingen on the Elbe.

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is bounded on the north by the river Elbe. In the east, the Southern Elbe Wischhafener demarcates the town herb sand and the community Drochtersen. In the southwest lies the east, while to join in the northwest Oederquart and Freiburg / Elbe.

Community structure

History

According to archaeological investigations, the Kehdinger march were inhabited from the 4th century BC. At the time Kehdingen was a single island landscape, which was separated by tidal inlets.

The first written mention in documents of Kehdingen are handed down from the Roman historians Tacitus and Pliny, a Roman officer.

The far-reaching autonomy Kehdingens ended only in the early 16th century, when it became the archbishop of Bremen Christoph to subdue the country by an organized financial management.

The communities Balje, Krummendeich, Oederquart, wiping port and the spots Freiburg / Elbe ( on the Elbe ) have decided on December 28, 1970 in lieu of the unified community for the formation of an integrated municipality. Thus, the five member communities have retained their independence within the integrated municipality incurred with effect from 1 January 1971.

Wiping port was added to the village renewal program of Lower Saxony in 2008. The aim is to implement appropriate projects.

Religions

A large part of the population is religiously connected with the Lutheran religion. The used main church St. Dionysius is located in the center of the hamlet Hamelwörden.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a silver background a green mountain, which is traversed by a silver wave beams. Above three Wolf Fishing is presented.

The Green Mountain has the oldest settlement site of the municipality, the Kirchenwurt and the village of Altendorf, back. The wave beam is both reference to the coat of arms of the family of Drewes as well as a symbol of the importance of shipping to the location on the Elbe. The Wolf Fishing indicate that the last Kehdingens wolves were captured in the district Wolf breakage.

The coat of arms was approved by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Interior on 5 August 1948 and officially.

Museums

Sports

Wischhafen has among other things a gymnastics club, tennis club, table tennis club, shooting club and football club. Traffic
