Wöhrder Wiese (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Woehrder meadow (abbreviation: WW) is the 30th Metro Station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn and was opened on 29 September 1990. It is 767 m Central Station and 525 meters from the subway station from the Rathenau Platz Underground Station. At the railway station towards Röthenbach closes on an x- shaped double track change. The Woehrder meadow is a park-like green area between the Woehrder lake and the eastern edge of Nuremberg's Old Town. It is named after the 1825 eingemeindeten Nuremberg district Wöhrd.

Location

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg Gleißbühl and extends below the ground in north-south direction east of the Franz -Josef-Strauss - bridge between Pegnitz and Prinzregentenufer. From the southern platform a head of steps leads directly to Woehrder meadow, the northern railway station, leading into a manifold of levels and from there to the Woehrder meadow, for Prinzregentenufer and Laufertorgraben. From the mid- station lift leads to the peninsula between Pegnitz, nuns Bach, Franz -Josef-Strauss - bridge.

Near the train station you will find the Cinecittà, the Natural History Society, the Georg -Simon- Ohm University, the island and the bulk Woehrder meadow.

Building and Architecture

The station building is 147 m long, 17.5 m wide and 15 m deep ( one and a half times the down position). Construction of the station began on 1 April 1987 and were carried out in an open design with back-anchored sheet pile walls. The Nonnenbach and the Pegnitz were conducted during construction with trough bridges over the trench, the northern Pegnitz is visibly integrated into the building ceiling and incorporated into the station design. The south exit is ( can be embedded rails in the walls in the plates ) with devices for flood protection because of its proximity to the Pegnitz provided.

The architectural design was carried out by the Nuremberg designers Stefan Maier and Bernhard Lugert. Decorated in shades of green circles on the platform walls symbolize the Woehrder meadow and held in shades of blue circles on walls and ceilings show the Pegnitz crossing in the middle of building. The remaining walls and ceiling are covered with coarse-pored shotcrete.

Lines

The station is served by U21 and U3 lines U2. The stop Woehrder is located on the surface of the lawn tram line 8 At the weekend, the night bus lines N1 and N11 to N13.
