Zaidín

Zaidín (Catalan Saidí ) is a municipality in the province of Huesca of the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is located in the comarca of Bajo Cinca on the left bank of the river Cinca and belongs to the largely Catalan Franja de Aragón, the local transition dialect Saidiné is in use.

History

Said in 1092 commune in 1333 by the Patriarch of Alexandria Juan left the monastery L' Escaladieu, which she passed on in 1358 to Count Peter of Ampurias.

During the Spanish Civil War, the area was initially controlled by the Republicans in the part of Spain. There was an airfield, which was initially used by the Republican air forces. In the course of Aragon offensive, the area fell to the National Spaniards. Zaidín later served also by the German Condor Legion, among other parts of the hunt group 88, as a base.

Economy

Agriculture and animal husbandry (pigs, cattle and sheep next ) are predominant.
