Communities

The Rajon Selenogradsk consists of the urban community Selenogradsk and four rural communities with 111 settlements.

Partnerships

The Rajon Selenogradsk maintains since 1991 a partnership with the district of Pinneberg. This partnership is the result of the sponsorship of the circle Pinneberg with former county Fischhausen.

The association Selenograndsk eV and the Russian partner association Pinneberg - Selenogradsk work in the fields of international relations, youth, humanitarian aid and cultural exchange closely.

Furthermore, there is a partnership with the district of Bad Doberan.

History

The Rajon was founded as Semlandski rayon ( rus. Земландский район ) on April 7, 1946. From its name fro he joined to the existing from 1939 to 1945 County Sambia, of its territory in scope but to the county existing until 1939 Fischhausen. Its administrative seat was on the paper which greatly destroyed during the war city Fischhausen ( officially Fischchausen ); in reality the Rajon was told by Cranz ( officially wreath ) managed from.

On September 7, 1946, the city Fischhausen in Primorsk was renamed and Rajon rajon in Primorsky ( rus. Приморский район ) ( Rajon Primorsk ). On July 25, 1947, the county seat was also (formerly Cranz ) officially moved into the city Selenogradsk. On this day, the city was eliminated Swetlogorsk (noise) from the Rajon and was rajonfrei. In 1952 the urban-type settlement was Svetly ( room shack ) carved out of the Raion and placed under the administration of the city of Kaliningrad.

On December 12, 1962 a general administrative reform of Rajon Primorsk were dissolved in the frame and attached his village Soviets the Rajon Guryevsk.

Rajon was restored on 12 January 1965 ( район rus. Зеленоградский ) as Selenogradski rayon ( Rajon Selenogradsk ). County seat was again the city Selenogradsk. The Rajon not belong were the areas of settlement Soviets Jantarny ( Palvininkai ) and Primorye ( United Kuhren ) and the city Pionerski ( Neukuhren ), which were subordinate to the city Soviet Swetlogorsk and the city of Primorsk, which was also managed by the city Soviet Svetly. With Rajon Guryevsk there was a territorial exchange, in which a coastal strip on the Curonian Spit was taken east of Selenogradsk and the coast on the Vistula Lagoon between cities Svetly and Kaliningrad yet.

As part of local government Rajon in 2005 was given the status of a " municipal raion ," in which the urban community Selenogradsk and four rural communities were established. This solved de facto from the administrative area of the city selenogradsker Administration and the village districts.
