Geography

Bad Doberan County lay in the northwest of the federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It bordered on the north by the Baltic Sea. Neighboring districts were the North Western Pomerania district, in the south of Güstrow and to the west the district of North West Mecklenburg in the east. The independent city of Rostock sticking from the north into the northeastern district area.

History

Bad Doberan County was created on 12 July 1994 from the merger of the dissolved districts of Bad Doberan and Rostock- country as well as the Office Schwaan from the dissolved district Biitzow. The Administrative Reform Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 2011, the district of Bad Doberan with the Güstrow was united to the new district of Rostock. The proposed county government seat is Güstrow.
