Bad Doberan (district)

Bad Doberan County was a county in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern, has been merged with the county Güstrow to the district of Rostock in the wake of the district reform in 2011.

Geography

Bad Doberan County lay in the northwest of the federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It bordered on the north by the Baltic Sea. Neighboring districts were the North Western Pomerania district, in the south of Güstrow and to the west the district of North West Mecklenburg in the east. The independent city of Rostock sticking from the north into the northeastern district area.

The area of the former district is characterized by primary and terminal moraines. In the West Wustrow peninsula extending into the Baltic Sea and surrounds with the mainland, the salt lagoon. To the east lies the ridge of the cooling. North of the town Bad Doberan offers the conventer lake each spring and autumn many migratory birds a welcome stopover on the way.

The southern part of the former county flows through the river Warnow.

History

Bad Doberan County was created on 12 July 1994 from the merger of the dissolved districts of Bad Doberan and Rostock- country as well as the Office Schwaan from the dissolved district Biitzow. The Administrative Reform Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 2011, the district of Bad Doberan with the Güstrow was united to the new district of Rostock. The proposed county government seat is Güstrow.

Religion

In the district of Bad Doberan, there are Lutheran congregations, these belong mostly to the church district of Rostock, partly also to the church district Güstrow the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg. The Catholic communities belong mostly to the Dean's Office Rostock and partly also to the Dean's Office of the Archdiocese of Hamburg Güstrow. In the district there are four municipalities of the New Apostolic Church, they belong to the district of Rostock in the District Church of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which reports to the Apostle district of North Germany.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 5 December 1995, the Interior Ministry and registered under No 96 Wappenrolle of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: " Divided by a lying, with the crookedness forward and upturned silver Abtstab; Up In Blue, a border golden griffin with surrounding rolled tail and knocked-out red tongue; a guardant black bull head with closed mouth, knocked- red tongue and silver horns on his forehead a golden crown prince, of the five alternately sticking some lilies and pearls prongs are visible below in gold. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Freudenberger Manfred Gerth.

The coat of arms of the district was formed in the district reform of the coat of arms of Rostock and Bad Doberan. It consists of:

The golden griffin on a blue background, symbolizing the previous affiliation of some areas to Rostock,
The Werl 's bull's head, which is the previous affiliation of some areas to rule Werle, and
The silver crook on the dividing line of the coat of arms fields, the ecclesiastical possessions represented. He also recalls, founded in 1160 Althof Cistercian community, which moved to Doberan 1186.

Flag

In the years since 1994 in the area of the district Bad Doberan as in the entire state of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern extensive territorial changes took place.

From the original 10 departments, eight agencies after completion of the administrative reform on 1 January 2005. The city lost its Amtsfreiheit Ticino, the city was Kropelin official free. The number of municipalities was reduced from 85 to 64
