Kassow

Kassow is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Schwaan based in the same city.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the east bank of the Warnow Kassow between cities Schwaan and Biitzow.

To Kassow include the districts New Kassow and Werle.

History

Kassow could be derived from Koczka (duck, duck area ) or by kase ( porridge ). The first certification of goods Kassow as knights -scientific feud is from 1593, when it was sold by Louis Fineken. 1767-1790, there was a ducal trial of Lieutenant Colonel by Wacker Barth and his heirs ( mortgage holder of Kassow ) for the laying of the last farmers in Kassow. The estate with interests in Oettelin was about 1778 in the possession of Lieutenant Colonel on.

In the district of Werle was in the 12th century, a Slavic castle. According to her the dominion of the prince was named Werle, a medieval collateral line of the royal house of Mecklenburg, who ruled from the 13th to the 15th century, the Principality of Werle.

Traffic

By Kassow the railway bath small -Rostock runs; is the section between the stations Biitzow and Schwaan. The trains do not stop in this section, however. The nearest railway station is on the railway line Mistorf Güstrow Schwaan; it is about four kilometers east of the center of Kassow.
