Dahmen

Dahmen is a municipality in the southeast of the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland domiciled in the not office belonging Teterow city.

The place name is probably derived from the Slavic word " Dab or Dabele " for " oak " from, that means " Eichenort ".

Geography

The community Dahmen between Teterow and Waren (Müritz) is located on the southern shore of Lake Malchin heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District, and the Natural Park Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow. History

Watermill Ziddorf

In the district Ziddorf a water mill was built in 1866. Builder was Count Rudolph of Bassewitz. Until 1975, this was in operation and was later used as point of sale and medical practice. The creek to the mill pond was drained. After 1994, the mill had different users, so textiles, carpets and pottery were produced and sold in a Women's Workshop.
