Dummerstorf

Dummerstorf is a municipality and district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ).

Geography

The community Dummerstorf is situated about ten kilometers southeast of Rostock, on a moraine between the Warnow inflows Kösterbeck and Zarnow. Along these three watercourses long distances are designated as a nature reserve ( Göldenitzer Moor Nature Reserve Kösterbeck ).

The community is made up since June 7, 2009 composed of the former municipalities of dissolved Office Warnow -east. Districts are:

  • Dummerstorf with Bandelstorf, Dishley, Göldenitz, Pankelow, Schlage and Waldeck.
  • Dam with large Viegeln, Small Viegeln and Reez

History

Dummerstorf was first mentioned in 1360 as a settlement in a document. The original name of the settlement is Domamerstorp Wendish origin and means "place of Domamer ", ie someone who innately has fame.

The family of Prehn was to the 19th century, one of the richest and most influential landed gentry in Mecklenburg, to their estates belonged Dummerstorf. Around the turn of the century of the 18th/19th. Century they had built numerous cottages and a school building along what is now the Old village road for the serfs. Built around 1730 Manor House in Dummerstorf had them rebuilt around 1800.

Economy and infrastructure

The community Dummerstorf is heavily agricultural. Apart from the actual farming, horse breeding and husbandry is a local focus. Sports
