Schorssow

Schorssow is a municipality in the south of the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland, located in the office not belonging Teterow city. The municipality was formed on 13 June 2004 from the formerly independent communities of Bristow and Bülow ( in Malchin ). Unlike many other municipal mergers here no double name, but the name of the former hamlet Bülower Schorssow was chosen.

Geography

The community Schorssow in the heart of the Mecklenburg Switzerland lies on the northwestern shore of Lake Malchin in the geographic center of the state. While the partly steeply sloping shore area is only slightly above sea level, the north-western parts of municipalities to achieve in Endmoränenbereich the Mecklenburg Switzerland heights up to 80 m above sea level. NN. near the town Teterow and while the west of the municipality at the outflow of the lake Teterower located a few meters towards the Peene above sea level, reached the main terminal moraine in the east in Hardt mountain 122 m above sea level. The municipality consists of the villages Bristow, Bülow, Carlshof, Glasow, mine, New Tessenowstraße, Schorssow and Tessenowstraße.

History

The oldest document about the existence of the place Bristow dates from the year 1297 Schorssow was first mentioned in documents in 1372. The area was settled in the Slavic period, which testify pottery finds from the area.

The Good Schorssow belonged from 1400 to 1545 the family of Malt tooth until 1816 the family von Moltke, in 1820 briefly the family of Hahn, from the late 19th century the family of Tiele - Winckler.

The Good Bristow was located since 1352 in the family of Hahn, from 1845 until the expropriation in 1945 in the possession of the Counts of Bassewitz - Levetzow.

The Good Bülow was until 1372 owned by Volrath Hanensee, followed by the of Moltzan on Schorssow and mid-17th century the family von Moltke, 1816 Johann Heinrich Degener, 1845 Karl Christian Law of Succession, 1859 Family von Bulow, until finally in 1890 arrived to the family of Tiele - Winckler on Schorssow, which the manor belonged to the expropriation in 1945.

In addition to the traditionally dominant agriculture, the development of tourism in the Mecklenburg Switzerland area has become an important economic factor. So, the last few years including a castle hotel from the old mansion in Schorssow.

  • The village church is the oldest Protestant Bristow Village Church of Mecklenburg, in the 1590s by Werner Hahn ( 1515-93 ) donated from the house of Graves and his son Hans Hahn ( 1558-1633 ) lavishly decorated in the Renaissance style. Altar, pulpit and organ gallery are original from the time of its construction around 1600. A special feature is the carved limestone into four panels Testament Werner Hahn. The German Foundation for Monument Protection participated in the 1990's on the restoration of a church, with organ.
  • Estate with stables of 1866 in the Tudor style, store built in 1868 by Count Carl August von Bassewitz - Levetzow, stone barn, dovecote from 1891 and other farm buildings from 1865 in Tudor style.
  • Next to the church the Bassewitzsche mausoleum was built in 1874 in Neo-Renaissance style. As the manor house burned down in 1919, the family of Bassewitz moved into a converted farm buildings for residential purposes. In the three-storey pigeon-house, a " Aschenputtelmuseum " was established, which highlights the cultural history of Pigeon breeding.

  • The Gothic village church Bulow built by 1235 from Feldstein and fittings made of a brick tomb of the von Moltke family. The German Foundation for Monument Protection participated from 1999 to 2003 on the renovation of the church.
  • Klassizistisches, ground farmhouse with mezzanine floor and a two-storey central projection of around 1800.

Transport links

The community members are connected to each other by the road on the high banks of Lake Malchin. The districts Schorssow and Carlshof are close to the B 108 Teterow by Waren (Müritz). The nearest train station is in Teterow ( line Güstrow - Neubrandenburg ).
