Steffenshagen

Steffenhagen is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office of Bad Doberan country located in the same city.

Geography

The municipality is located on the northeast side of the cooling, a mountain range between the cities Kropelin and cooling Born. Steffen Hagen is only about six kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast ( beach of the oldest German seaside resort of Heiligendamm ). The community is made up of the parts of Lower and Upper Steffenhagen Steffenhagen.

History

Steffen Hagen was founded by German colonists. 1273, the village was first mentioned in documents as Stephaneshaghen. A damage bill of the monastery Doberan from 1312 called German names like Arnold, Wedemann, Kruse, Dietrich and Hildebrand. Steffen Hagen is mentioned in several medieval documents.

The church was patronage Church of Doberan abbot. Since the mid-16th century secularization Steffenhagen belonged to the ducal Domanialverband.

  • Museumshof: Denkmalhof a 200 years old windmill with historic shops ( bakery, blacksmith, carpenter ). The windmill has been converted from the Saxony-Anhalt Buschkuhnsdorf and built in 1998 and restored Steffenhagen.
  • The Gothic three-nave church village Steffenhagen is a hall church made ​​of brick. The choir dates from the late 13th century. Some of the construction in the second half of the 19th century was extended, and the historicizing tower dates from this period. Inside the church you will find a carved from the second half of the 15th century, a pulpit from the 18th century, a triumphal cross group from the 14th century and a granite Romanesque baptism.
