Schwasdorf

Schwasdorf is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland domiciled in the not office belonging Teterow city. The municipality was formed on 13 June 2004 from the formerly independent communities Poggelow and Remlin. Unlike many other municipal mergers here no double name, but the name of the former hamlet Remliner Schwasdorf was chosen.

Geography

The community Schwasdorf north of the Mecklenburg Switzerland lies between the upper Peene and the Recknitztal in a gently hilly area. The elevations reach up to 57 m above sea level. NN. The city Teterow is 15 km away, Gnoien about 10 km.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Poggelow, Remlin, Schwasdorf and Stierow.

History

The area was already inhabited during the Neolithic period. Near Schwasdorf is a passage grave of this period, between Schwasdorf and the Peenetal are five burial mounds from the Bronze Age. The oldest document about the existence of the former Gutsdorfes Poggelow dates from the year 1314 Remlin was first mentioned in documents in 1361. Agriculture and eco-tourism are the determining factors in the community.

Transport links

The municipality is situated on the road connecting Teterow after Gnoien. From Teterow 16 km consist federal road connections in all directions. The former railway station in the district Poggelow is located on the disused railway line in 1997 Teterow - Gnoien. The railway line was replaced by buses.
