Cammin, Bad Doberan

Pomerania is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office of Ticino, located in the eponymous city.

Geography

The community of Pomerania is surrounded by conservation areas between the cities of Ticino and Laage near the upper Recknitz. The Hanseatic city of Rostock is about 20 km away.

To Pomerania includes the districts Eickhof, Prangenberg village, Wide Village and Wohrenstorf.

History

The village of Pomerania was first mentioned in 1226. This was due to the Bewidmung with four hooves for the collegiate Güstrow by Prince Henry II as vassal Borwin here the Lords of Kammin or Kemmyn down. Church and Manor House

Pomerania is the seat of a Protestant parish office and has, in 1240 the Saint Lawrence of Rome, consecrated stone church, with a late-Gothic winged altar (1515 Rostock workshop) and a baroque organ. This was built in 1724 by Hans Hantelmann, a student Arp Schnitger. The organ was restored with the help of time -Stiftung, is due to their vast original state of the most valuable instruments in the country.

Near the church is the former leaseholders home built in the last quarter of the 19th century. It now houses a free primary school, supported by a parents' initiative.
