1939 Copa del Generalísimo

The Generalísimo Cup 1939 was the 36th edition of the Spanish Football Cup competition, which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey.

After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1937 controlled by republican troops of Spain Copa de España Libre (Cup of free Spain ) was held. This round of the cup is not officially recognized by the Spanish Football Federation and therefore not included in statistics. 1938 no tournament was held. After the end of the civil war and the victory of the anti-republican forces of Francisco Franco of the cup competition in 1939 for the first time officially played out and renamed in accordance with the General in Copa del Generalísimo.

The competition started on May 14 and ended with the final on 25 June 1939 at the Estadi Montjuic in Barcelona. Defender of the Cup competition was of Madrid FC. The title was won by Sevilla FC by a 6-2 success in the final against Racing de Ferrol.
