1954 World Ice Hockey Championships

The 21 World Ice Hockey Championships and 32 Hockey Championship was held to 7 March 1954 in Stockholm, Sweden on 26 February. The USSR won in their first World Cup appearance at first the title. The victory of the Soviet team marked the beginning of a changing of the guard in the global sport of ice hockey, in which the hitherto dominant Canadians should lose their supremacy gradually.

In addition, some of the Soviet hockey players were also successful as a football player. The basis of convincing performances in the run against teams like Finland and Czechoslovakia quite counted in the group of medal contenders, the significant victory in the decisive match against world champion and Olympic champion Canada was one of the surprises of the tournament.

At the World Cup, attended eight teams and unlike last year, the strongest hockey nations ( except the U.S. ) here this year. A B- World Cup has not played this season.
